Get ready to get your groove on when the USA Dance 2008 North Central Regional Championships comes to Knoxville's Downtown Marriott February 8-10.
The competition, presented by the USA Dance Greater Knoxville Chapter, is an excellent opportunity to watch some of the most talented ballroom dancers in the country compete. It is also an opportunity for the general public to sign up for workshops to learn how to show off some dance moves to friends and family.
These workshops will be on Saturday and Sunday (Feb. 9 &10) and cost $10 per person.
The event is the last qualifying event for the USA Dance National Championships and will have talented ballroom competitors from 21 states participating.
The competition will begin on Saturday at 9 a.m. and will continue into Sunday.
On Friday from 8 p.m. to 11 p.m., World Champions Anik Jolicoeur and Alain Doucet will perform some of their famous ballroom dances during a professional ballroom show.
The championships will be awarding more than $4000 in scholarships to the top three couples in designated events, as well as several merchandise prizes. This is an excellent chance to see why ballroom dancing has become such a hit throughout the world.
