Green Power First Friday is a celebration of environmentally friendly initiatives and services.
In addition to regular First Friday festivities, attendees can learn about what's green in Knoxville and sign up for green power.
Our goal is the purchase of an additional 400 blocks of green power - one for each of the 400 city blocks in downtown Knoxville. We can make downtown green, block for block.
The event will be held in the Krutch Park Extension (across from Downtown Regal Riviera) from 5-8 p.m. At 5:15 Mayor Haslam will speak in support of the event and the Green Power Switch program. He will also recognize current downtown businesses that purchase green power.
In the event of rain, Green Power First Friday will be held in the lobby of the Miller's Building.
Green Power First Friday is part of a joint initiative by KUB, the city of Knoxville, Tennessee Valley Authority, the Southern Alliance for Clean Energy, the Central Business Improvement District, the Knoxville Chamber and the Market Square District Association to encourage downtown businesses and residents to purchase green power.
