One lane of James White Parkway in each direction will be closed due to construction work on the new Knoxville Station Transit Center scheduled to begin later this week.
The work will be near where the Church Avenue Viaduct crosses James White and the lane closings will be in place for approximately five months while crews build a bus platform that will extend across the parkway.
There will also be sporadic lane closures as necessary after that five-month period until work on the platform is finished next summer.
The 108,000-square-foot transit center is being built on the corner of Church Avenue and Hall of Fame Drive and is expected to be opened in January of 2010.
