Mayor Haslam honored 75 city employees who have served at least 20 years with the city or have retired during the past year at a special Employee Appreciation Luncheon at the Knoxville Coliseum on Tuesday, February 19.
The active employees the city honored have provided a total of 1,225 years of service to Knoxville and its citizens - that averages out to 29+ years per person.

The longest serving active employee honored was Charles Hansard, who has served 45 years with the Knoxville Fire Department.
The longest serving active employee honored was John A. Nicely with 40 years of service in the KFD.
The longest serving retiree was Wayman R. Whaley who started working with the city in June of 1964 and officially retired on Dec. 31, 2007.
