In December Knoxville's City Council unanimously voted to designate the city block bounded by Gay Street, Magnolia Avenue, Depot Street and Williams Street as "Regas Square" in honor of the family that established the restaurant in 1919 and operated what became a Knoxville landmark for decades.
On Thursday, January 10 at 3 p.m. a dedication ceremony for the new Regas Square will be held at the corner of Gay and Depot Streets in front of Regas Restaurant. Mayor Bill Haslam will lead the ceremony and Bill Regas will be among the speakers.
There will be refreshments at Regas after the ceremony.
