The shops, galleries and restaurants of the 100 Block of Gay Street will all be open as usual on First Friday, which takes place on March 6 in Market Square and downtown Knoxville after work until late evening.
The first Friday of every month is a great time to explore and enjoy downtown Knoxville including its galleries, restaurants and shops - many of which stay open until late in the evening on First Friday, which is sponsored by the Market Square District Association.
This Friday marks the first time this event has been held since construction began on the Gay Street Streetscapes Project, which has led to the closure of the street at the 200 Block of Gay. However, it will not affect access to the businesses on the 100 Block.
The street and sidewalks of the 100 Block of Gay remain open, though drivers will have to detour around the construction site, and the ongoing work does not affect parking in the area.
