Systern rain barrels will be on sale at less than half of the normal retail price on. Saturday, October 3rd, at the West Town Mall parking lot, at the Morrel Rd. entrance, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., while supplies last.
The rain barrels will be sold for $50.00, tax included, (cash, checks, VISA, MC).
One inch of rain falling on a 1,000 ft2 roof harvests as much as 600 gallons of rainwater.
"We are offering the Rain Barrel at a discounted price to encourage residents to collect and use rain water so that we can reduce the volume of water run off and provide a crucial conservation practices of reducing water pollution and soil erosion in our communities," said John Homa, City of Knoxville Solid Waste Project Manager.
The Systern Rain Barrel is a convenient, light weight receptacle. The lid locks securely on top, and has as protective screen to keep out mosquitoes. It has a 50-gallon capacity and will fit into a mid size automobile.
The City Engineering Water Quality Office will be giving out free flexible down spout connectors to customers while supplies last.
