New plays and new writers are the lifeblood of a strong and vibrant theater. Since 1998, Tennessee Stage Company has produced The New Play Festival as a way to spotlight and nurture new playwrights and plays. This year, Knox County Public Library is partnering with TSC for a series of table readings of the plays to be performed during the festival. Join us to hear some of Knoxville's finest actors perform the following plays:
Carry Me Back To West Virginia by Lawrence DuKore
Carry Me Back To West Virginia is a comedy set in a small town on the West Virginia/Kentucky border during the height of the Cold War. When the connecting bridge collapses the town is cut off and isolated. With no help forthcoming from Washington a few enterprising townsfolk look for help in a strange place - the Union of Soviet Socialist Republics.
