Your community blood center has issued an emergency plea for blood donors. They report needing all blood types, specifically O Positive which is the most common blood type. "Giving blood is a significant gift to the community since all blood donated to MEDIC stays in the greater East Tennessee area to help your family, friends and neighbors," explains Christi Fightmaster, MEDIC spokesperson.
Donors must be at least 17 years of age, weigh 110 pounds or more and have positive identification. Donors can find community drives at www.medicblood.org or by calling 865-524-3074.
Donors are welcome to stop by one of two fixed sites:
1601 Ailor Avenue near downtown, Knoxville. Open until 6:30pm today; Saturday, 8am - 11:30am; Sunday 1pm - 4:30pm.
11000 Kingston Pike in Farragut near Pittsburg Paints. Open until 5pm today.
