"This is a great way for kids to enjoy an extension of their season," said Joe Walsh, Knoxville Parks and Recreation Director. "It's also a fun way to partner with Knox County to encourage health and fitness in youth."
More than 100 players participated in this year's City vs. County Youth Basketball Challenge and Knox County teams won three of the five championships.
"We have nearly 300 teams in our program, and I'm sure the city has just as many," said Doug Bataille, Senior Director of Parks and Recreation for Knox County. "Having a season ending tournament really gives the kids bragging rights for the entire community."
