The City of Knoxville Recycling Drop-Off Center in the Broadway Shopping Center at 2217 Broadway will be closed starting Sunday, August 29 due to an expansion by the Kroger Store which is installing gasoline pumps at that location.
The Goodwill Industries trailer that is part of the recycling center there will also be closed.
The city's Solid Waste Department currently operates 11 recycling centers across Knoxville with most of them being operated in conjunction with Kroger and Goodwill.
"We are actively looking for a new location," said John Homa, the city's Solid Waste Project Manager, "but in the meantime people who use the Broadway Shopping Center for recycling can use the Downtown Recycling Center or the one at the old Kroger in Fountain City."
The State Street Recycling Center is located at 400 State Street and the Fountain City center is at 5003 Broadway.
