Blount Avenue will be reduced to one-way traffic traveling west from Chapman Highway to Hawthorne Avenue beginning Thursday, March 25, for road, utility and drainage improvement work on that section of the road.
The change will also result in eastbound traffic on Blount Avenue (that's traffic traveling on Blount toward Chapman Highway) being detoured to Martin Mill Pike.
The work is part of an ongoing construction project on Blount Avenue and crews will be working in the existing south lane rebuilding the road and slightly shifting its current path. They will also be adding sidewalks, replacing a waterline and doing some drainage improvements.
Construction is expected to continue until at least mid-summer and that section of Blount Avenue will remain one-way until that time.
