The Mayors' Leadership Luncheon was held today on the Helipad at Mercy Riverside from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m.
Presented by Leadership Knoxville, in partnership with Mayor Bill Haslam and Mayor Mike Ragsdale, the event's purpose was to connect regional leaders and learn best practices from current and former mayors of other progressive communities.
Charlotte's former Mayor Pat McCrory was the luncheon's keynote speaker. Mr. McCrory served a historic seven term leadership as the Mayor of Charolotte from 1995 to 2009. Charlotte became an economic hub in transportation, banking, manufacturing, energy and travel/tourism bringing thousands of new jobs to the region. Mr. McCrory implemented innovative and sustainable transportation and land use plans that have been touted nationally as success templates for other cities and municipalities.
Following Mayor McCrory's speech was a question and answer session with all three Mayors.
