On Wednesday, December 22 at 2 p.m. the city will hold a ceremony naming the new transit center the John J. Duncan Jr. Knoxville Station Transit Center.
The ceremony will be on the main floor of the transit center which is located at 301 Church Avenue.
Mayor Bill Haslam, U.S. Representative John Duncan Jr., and others will speak.
The environmentally-friendly,108,000 square-foot station featuring a bus platform that spans James White Parkway opened in August completing a decade-long effort to build a new station in Knoxville. Congressman Duncan was a strong supporter of the new station and obtained the federal funding needed for its construction.
Parking for the ceremony will be available next door in the Civic Coliseum Parking Garage.
