It's time for spring cleaning along the Tennessee River! The 22nd Annual River Rescue: will be held Saturday, April 2 from 10 AM to 2 PM. For the past 22 years, Ijams has coordinated River Rescue.
Be a part of this long-standing community event and help clean up local shorelines from Ijams, located at the headwaters of the Tennessee River, all the way downstream to Fort London Dam.
Every year they pick up TONS of trash along the 50-mile section of the river, plus Melton Hill on the Clinch and even several surrounding creeks. In April 2010 over 1,000 River Rescue Volunteers collected 15 tons of trash and 95 tires improving the quality and vitality of local shorelines and parks, and the health and biodiversity of critical wildlife populations and habitats.
Volunteers are needed. Groups are welcome. Register today.
