The City of Knoxville Parks and Recreation Department will host a public meeting at Mooreland Heights Elementary on Thursday, April 7, at 6 p.m. to discuss plans to build a dog park within the 26-acre Charter Doyle Park on Martin Mill Pike. The meeting will be held in the school's cafeteria.

This dog park will be the fourth installment of a pledge from Petsafe to work with the City of Knoxville and Knox County to fund five dog parks within each region of Knoxville. The previous three dog parks have been built at Tommy Schumpert Park in North Knoxville, the Downtown Dog Park, and Concord Park in West Knoxville. Petsafe has confirmed $100,000 per year toward this effort.

Charter Doyle Park will be the first public dog park for the South Knoxville area. The two-acre dog park will be fenced to enable off-leash recreation for dogs and their owners.

The meeting will provide an opportunity for residents to learn about the construction phases of the dog park, enhancements dog parks have brought to other dog parks in Knoxville, and future Parks and Recreation Department plans for Charter Doyle Park.
