City Parks and Recreation held a May Mania Event at Inskip Pool and Park at 4204 Bruhin Rd. on May 25th.
The event was an outdoor fitness carnival for nearly 400 children to learn about healthy eating and fitness This event is held as a grand finale to the City Parks and Recreation's After School Program.
During the school year, the recreation staff has worked with approximately 900 registered students (between ages of six and twelve years) to help them realize the fun and benefits of healthy living.
The theme of May Mania is "Play Safe. Eat Right. Stay Active." and encourages kids to carry out what they have learned into their summer break.
Activities at May Mania include swimming, a slip and slide, a bike rodeo, a walk with Missy Kane, disc golf orientation and much more. Vendors related to healthy living will also be on site with games for the kids.
Beginning June 3, City Parks and Recreation will offer its Summer Playground Program to children (six to twelve years of age) in recreation centers throughout the city. The camp is Monday-Friday, 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., and has two sessions that are $15 each. To register their children, parents can call 865-215-1414.
