Henley Bridge Week 18 Progress

Posted: 05/06/2011
Demolition of the Henley Bridge is steadily continuing and reconstruction activities are progressing on both ends of the bridge.

So that the bridge can be dismantled over the eastbound lane, the traffic shift on Neyland Drive is now in place with one lane is open in each direction on the west side (the stadium side).

Please note that the Greenway is closed, so walkers and joggers must find alternate routes.

The Neyland Drive closure will be sporadic through the middle of August.

Please be aware that sometime in May, the contractor is expected to add workers to the demolition operations and will be doing nighttime work. These activities will be away from housing units on the north end of the bridge and, therefore less noise invasive. Nighttime work is important so that the bridge is taken down as expeditiously as possible in order to complete the contract by our deadline.

If you have questions concerning the bridge or need maps or brochures, please feel free to stop by the Henley Community Center Monday-Friday 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. or call 865-577-6988. To find out more about the project, detours, Henley Bridge history and to view the project cameras you can visit www.tn.gov/henley.
