Water and gas line adjustments and relocation work is complete on the north end of the bridge in the intersection of Henley Street and Hill Avenue. The demolition on the north end is nearing completion and night work there is subsiding substantially.
The contractor has commenced removing the railing and the overhang concrete on the bridge deck. This material is being lowered to a barge and relocated to his recycle yard.
Reconstruction of the concrete supports is continuing in the approach span of the south end of the bridge.
Traffic counts and signal timing adjustments at the various detour route intersections is still on-going, and as stated before, is expected to be complete by the end of February.
Due to unforeseen underground conditions, completion of the water and gas line adjustments in the Chapman/Blount intersection are being delayed. As soon as the decision is made to correct the problem, work will be completed there and asphalt placed soon thereafter. Please be patient as we know this have been an inconvenience for traffic using this intersection.
