MEDIC Regional Blood Center Issues Emergency Need

MEDIC Regional Blood Center has issued an emergency need for all blood types but especially O Positive, the most common blood type.

The shortage is due to two traumas that occurred over the weekend depleting MEDIC's already low inventory.

MEDIC Farragut

Mon., Tues., Thurs. 9 a.m. - 7 p.m.
Wed. and Fri. 7am - 5 p.m.

All donors must be 17 years of age or older and weigh at least 110 pounds. Anyone 16 years of age may donate if they weigh at least 120 pounds and have a signed parental consent form. All donors must have positive identification.

MEDIC Regional Blood Center is the sole provider of products for 27 area hospitals. MEDIC must collect 350 pints of blood every day of the work week in order to adequately fulfill hospital orders.
