Murphy Branch Library Hosts Community Representatives

Posted: 04/06/2011
Murphy Branch of the Knox County Public Library is hosting Russ Jensen, 3-1-1 Manager and County Commissioner Sam McKenzie at 5 p.m. on April 14 as part of a series of programs aimed at helping area residents find out what is happening in their community, discuss the future plans for the area, and find resources for assistance when they need it.

Murphy Branch Library is located in the LT Ross Building at 2247 Western Avenue.

"We would like the local community to come together for informational meetings where they can find out about community resources and future plans. We'd like for them to feel a sense of ownership toward both the library and community," says Sandy Chandler, Murphy Branch Manager.

Then, on May 12, 5 p.m., there will be a panel discussion featuring Sara Mary Wallace, Statewide 2-1-1 Coordinator; Sarah Harder, Metropolitan Drug Commission; Edna Eickman, Grandparents as Parents Program Manager; Barbara Monty, Director, Office on Aging; and Ben Epperson, Knox County Health Department.

For more information, please call the Murphy Branch Library at 521-7812.
