Neyland Greenway Reopened Under Henley Bridge

Posted: 08/05/2011
The section of the City of Knoxville's Neyland Greenway beneath the Henley Bridge reopened Thursday afternoon. It had been closed since May 6, due to construction activity taking place overhead.

That portion of the greenway had initially been scheduled to be closed until August 19.

The three-mile-long Neyland Greenway is part of a near 10-mile section of connected greenways running east to west from Morningside Park to Bearden Elementary School. It travels along the Tennessee River between the James White and Third Creek Greenways. For maps or more information about the city's 50-mile greenway system please go to www.knoxvilletn.gov/greenways.

The Tennessee Department of Transportation closed the 80-year-old Henley Bridge on January 3rd for reconstruction. The work is expected to take 24-30 months to complete.

More information about the Henley Bridge project is available at www.tn.gov/henley.
