Second Harvest Food Bank to Open March 10

Posted: 03/01/2011
Following flooding at its Delaware Avenue facility last week, Second Harvest Food Bank of East Tennessee announced today that it will restart operations and resume service to client agencies effective Thursday, March 10, 2011.

Currently, the food bank still cannot accept food donations. Second Harvest anticipates that it will again receive food donations at the Delaware Avenue facility on Wednesday, March 16, 2011.

"We are so grateful for the support we've received from the community," said Second Harvest Food Bank's Executive Director Elaine Streno. "Without the help and assistance of hundreds of volunteers and our terrific staff we could never have been able to get back to work serving our client agencies as quickly as we have."

Donations to assist Second Harvest can also be made using a credit card online at www.secondharvestknox.org, and personal checks can be mailed directly to the food bank: Second Harvest, 922 Delaware Avenue, Knoxville, TN 37921.
