The City of Knoxville will host its annual business breakfast event on Thursday, June 28, for companies interested in learning more about upcoming projects and opportunities to do business with the city.
The free "Breakfast for Business" event is open to all businesses and is set to start at 7:30 a.m. at the Jacob Building at Chilhowee Park located at 3310 East Magnolia Avenue.
The City of Knoxville particularly encourages small and mid-sized businesses to attend, as the intent is to help posture local businesses for upcoming city of Knoxville opportunities.
The event will be hosted by the city's Purchasing Division.
Senior directors from several city departments will briefly discuss specific projects expected to begin during the next 12-18 months including general information about the projects, the anticipated date the work will be going out for bid and qualifications, among other things.
Participants will also learn about the requirements for doing business with the city and how best to compete for city business.
Some of the key presenters include the directors of the city's Community Development, Parks and Recreation, Police, Fire, Facilities, KAT, Engineering and Public Service Departments.
In addition officials from Knoxville's Community Development Corporation and the Public Building Authority will also be on hand to outline projects and procurements on the horizon.
This year, there will be enhanced opportunities to meet the department directors in small group settings.
