City of Knoxville employees and members of the City Tree Board celebrated Tennessee Arbor Day today by planting six trees with students and faculty at Beaumont Elementary School.
Three Crab Apple Trees were donated by the Knoxville Utilities Board and three Kwanzan Cherry Trees were donated by the City of Knoxville.
Principal Gwynne Carey and Assistant Principal Shay Siler helped organize the event and 35 students assisted with mulching each site.
Tennessee Arbor Day is always held on the first Friday of March and is a great reminder for citizens of the importance of trees in our community. Tennessee Arbor Day is also a great opportunity to plant trees which ideally need to be installed before warm weather and spring.
