The Knoxville Police Department will hold a Safety Fair at Safety City on Saturday, September 29 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.
Safety City is located at 165 S. Concord Street, Knoxville, TN.
Children in grades 1-5 are targeted to participate in various traffic-related safety skill stations with an emphasis in bike safety.
This FREE event is open to people of all ages.
Children attending the bike fair must be accompanied by an adult and should bring a bicycle and helmet. If children do not have a helmet the Knoxville Police Department will loan a helmet for the event.
Bicycles and helmets are checked for safety and proper fit. Minor repairs will be made, if necessary. Participants will test their skills at five different skill stations, such as Dodge 'Em Drive, which teaches them the how to avoid obstacles in the road or open car doors. In addition to the safety skill stations, children will receive wallet-sized photo identification cards, safety information and a light snack.
Safety City is a Community Service Project of the Knoxville Police Department.
