Solar PV Ribbon Cutting at SACE

Posted: 06/08/2012
Mayor Rogero participated in a solar pv installation ribbon cutting ceremony at the Southern Alliance for Clean Energy (SACE) on Friday at 3804 Middlebrook Pike.

The official ribbon cutting consisted of Mayor Rogero, Dr. Stephen A. Smith - SACE Executive Director, John Noel - SACE President of the Board of Directors, SACE Board Members Leon Jacobs and Jim Powell "plugging in" the power connection to the new 9.6 kW solar photovoltaic installation.

SACE also held an open house to show their 9.6 kW solar photovoltaic installation and the energy efficiency retrofits at their office.

The City of Knoxville's Office of Sustainability, together with Knox County's Community Action Committee, designed the Green Building Incentives Program and those incentives helped fund a portion of SACE's solar PV project.

To qualify for the program SACE made their building more sustainable with a geothermal heat pump, refurbished lighting including passive solar lights and building envelope improvements.

In addition, SACE has on-site two Blink Network Level 2 charging stations and a Nissan Leaf vehicle as part of the EV Project, the largest single deployment of electric vehicles and charging infrastructure in history.

SACE also qualified as part of the TVA Generation Partners Pilot.
