Inspectors from the City's Public Service Department will sweep the Beaumont neighborhood looking for codes violations on Friday, May 24.
This codes sweep is educational. Inspectors will notify property owners of existing violations of the city's building, dirty lot and inoperable vehicle regulations. Owners will then have 10-14 days to correct violations before a formal Notice of Violation is issued.
Property owners in the City of Knoxville are required by law to maintain certain minimum standards in the upkeep of their property.
The Codes Enforcement Office investigates codes violations regarding dilapidated buildings, dirty or overgrown lots, illegal dumping, and abandoned vehicles. Violations that are not corrected can be referred to the Public Officer or Municipal Court.
