The Knoxville Community Band will ring in the holiday spirit in Knoxville this season with a free Christmas concert at Northwest Middle School auditorium on Sunday, Dec. 8th, at 3 p.m.
Come hear your favorite holiday tunes performed by a group of talented, Knoxville-area musicians. This free event is an ideal outing for people of all ages to celebrate the holiday season.
The Knoxville Community Band is made up of instrumentalists in the community who like to play, most of whom have been playing since grammar school. Some players are band directors who take time out from their own bands to keep in practice on their primary instruments, some are professionals in the community, and others are those who learned to play in school and don't want to lose their expertise. All are volunteers, and all play because they love the music.
The band is sponsored by the Knoxville Parks and Recreation Department. The group plays year round at festivals and other special events, also performing a series of outdoor concerts during the summer.
