Effective today, KUB and its contractor, Charles Blalock and Sons, have completed construction and restoration activities in Zone 1 on the east end of Lyons View Pike. The section of Lyons View Pike between Kingston Pike and Colony Way has been reopened to traffic, and the barricades have been removed at Arrowhead Trail and Colony Way intersections.
Construction activities are underway in Zone 2, which spans from just west of Colony Way to the area in front of Cherokee Country Club. Lyons View Pike remains closed to through traffic west of Colony Way. Ingress and egress to Cherokee Country Club remains open from the west end of Lyons View Pike (at S. Northshore Drive).
Traffic control officers remain in place at barricades located on the east and west ends of Lyons View Pike. Due to excavation in the roadway, and the ongoing presence of equipment, materials, and workers, through traffic is not permitted in the construction zone. Only local traffic accessing private driveways is permitted to travel within the construction zone.
The closure of Lyons View Pike to through traffic will remain in effect for the duration of the project, which KUB anticipates will be completed in November 2013, prior to Thanksgiving.
KUB continues to post regular updates as this project progresses on its website at
www.kub.org, the
KUB Facebook page, and via recorded messages on the dedicated project hotline at 865-558-2330 (follow-up from a KUB representative by the end of the next business day). Additionally, KUB has set up a blog at
lyonsviewpikeproject.blogspot.com to keep customers informed about project milestones.
