Mayor Madeline Rogero and Knox County Mayor Tim Burchett presented a joint proclamation at the 10th Annual National Wear Red Day on Friday, February 1st in the Main Assembly Room of the City County Building. The proclamation designated February 1, 2013 as "Wear Red Day for Women."
A group photo was taken of many of the people in the City County building who wore red today for the event.
American Heart Association's Greater Southeast Affiliate sponsored the "Go Red for Women Day" with health screenings, goodies and a drawing for Go Red items.
Despite 10 years of progress, heart disease is still the No. 1 killer of women, striking more women than men. An estimated 43 million women in the U.S. are affected by cardiovascular diseases.
American Heart Association's "Go Red For Women" movement has been impacting the health of women for 10 years and more than 627,000 women's lives have been saved.
