On Wednesday, Kim Spoon, Chair of the Knox Chapter of the National Association of Social Workers, presented Mayor Rogero with the 2013 Public Official of the Year Award for Tennessee.
The award recognizes leadership in advancing public policy in the area of vulnerable populations, civil and human rights, or social welfare.
Mayor Rogero was honored with the statewide recognition because of her ability to "involve people of all personalities and talents in the pursuit of a common goal."
The NASW seeks to promote professional development and enhance the well-being of individuals, families, and communities through advocacy programs.
