On Thursday, June 20th, the Tennessee Department of Transportation (TDOT) will hold a public hearing to gather input on the proposed improvements to Alcoa Highway (State Route 115) in Knox and Blount Counties.
This public hearing will present the findings of the NEPA Environmental Assessment (EA), as part of the National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA) process.
The purpose of the hearing is to provide the public with an opportunity for input into the project before a preferred alternative is selected. Two alternatives are being considered, one Build Alternative that involves improving the existing highway and a No-Build Alternative which involves only continued maintenance. The improvements under the Build Alternative would extend from north of Pellissippi Parkway (State Route 162) to North of Cherokee Trail, a distance of 8.4 miles.
The meeting is also intended to answer questions posed by the public. A presentation will be followed by a question-and-answer session, and opportunities for the public to view project displays and talk to TDOT representatives.
