September 17, 2014 - A public meeting will be held at 5:30 p.m. on Monday, Sept. 22, to report on accomplishments of South Waterfront and Downtown North brownfield assessment grants. The meeting will be at All Occasions Catering, 922 N. Central St. City of Knoxville officials and engineering and planning consultants from S&ME and BPR will present a final report on brownfield assessments performed in the South Waterfront and Downtown North redevelopment areas.
These assessments, conducted with federal grant money from the Environmental Protection Agency, surveyed brownfield sites in both areas to evaluate real or perceived contamination that could inhibit future use and development of these parcels. The grant money was used to assess sites with a history of petroleum, hazardous or co-mingled materials.
For an overview of the Downtown North project, including a list of sites evaluated, see the attached newsletter. Updates are also provided in the Quarterly Newsletter for South Waterfront, online at www.cityofknoxville.org/southwaterfront.
The meeting is open to the general public. Anyone needing a disability accommodation in order to attend the meeting can contact City ADA Coordinator Stephanie Brewer Cook at 215-2034 or
