The fun starts at 11 p.m. on Wednesday, Dec. 31, 2014 with piped-in party music and a large screen displaying photographs of 2014 highlights.
The second-by-second countdown to 2015 starts at 11:59 p.m., with the ball drop, fireworks and singing of "Auld Lang Syne."
Plus, Knoxville's Holidays on Ice - the Market Square open-air ice skating rink - will be open on Dec. 31 from 1 p.m. until midnight. Admission (which includes skate rental) is $10 for adults, $7 for children 12 years and younger.
This year, there will be no food vendors set up in Market Square. But downtown restaurants will be open, and owners and managers are anticipating a festive dining-out evening.
The alcohol-free New Year's Eve celebration on Market Square is sponsored by 93.1 WNOX. Admission is free, and free parking will be available at City-owned garages throughout downtown.
