May 8, 2014 - The City of Knoxville's Engineering Department recently hired Jeff Branham to manage the Traffic Engineering Division. The division's responsibilities include operation and maintenance of traffic signals and parking meter systems, producing traffic studies, reviewing proposed traffic planning documents for new development, and maintaining street signage and markings.

Branham graduated from Virginia Tech in 1991 with a degree in civil engineering and is a licensed professional engineer. He has served on several professional and civic organizations, including serving on the board of directors of the Tennessee Society of Professional Engineers and as chairman of the Parks and Recreation Committee for the Morristown Area Chamber of Commerce.

"Working for the City of Knoxville is an honor," Branham said. "I look forward to assisting the City in the modernization of the traffic system and helping the administration move forward on several state-of-the-art initiatives to increase the safety and efficiency of the transportation system."

Branham will have 31 employees and a $2.6 million annual budget.

A practicing engineer for more than 20 years, Branham's experience includes management of the Cumberland Gap Tunnel startup operations; 13-plus years in private engineering, specializing in commercial development and transportation projects; and an eight-year stint as the city engineer in Morristown, Tenn.

Branham loves to camp, fish, and mountain bike with his three daughters Anna, Katie and Sarah.
