January 21, 2014 - The Knoxville Police Department Explorers are preparing for their next basic class. The department will host two orientation sessions to provide an overview of the program, answer questions, and guide applicants through the remainder of the process to become an explorer.
These sessions will be held in the City Municipal Court Room at the Safety Building. There will be two opportunities to attend, but applicants need only to attend one information session. Attendance at one of the sessions is required to participate in the program. Explorer applicants are required to have a parent/guardian present with them during the orientation session.
The sessions will be held on Monday, January 27, 2014, and Friday, January 31, 2014. Both sessions will begin at 6:00 p.m.
The academy will begin in February and will be held every Tuesday from 6-9 p.m. Being available to attend every Tuesday evening from February through May will be a requirement for this class. The Explorer Unit is open to anyone from ages 14 through 20.
