KUB Lane Closures for Clinton Hwy., Kingston Pike and White Ave.

Posted: 06/27/2014
June 27, 2014 - KUB will have several lane reductions for utlility repairs.

Clinton Highway Lane Closure [June 28-29] - KUB crews will close the curbside lane of Clinton Highway between Old Callahan Drive and Old Clinton Pike in each direction from 7a.m. - 1p.m. on Saturday, June 28, and Sunday, June 29, as work is completed on the electric distribution system in this area. The inside lanes in each direction will remain open during this timeframe. Traffic will be stopped completely at least once during this time to string wire across the roadway, but will resume after a short period of time.

Kingston Pike Lane Closure [July 1] - KUB will close the westbound curbside lane on a short section of Kingston Pike between Cheshire Drive and Buckingham Drive from 9 a.m. - 3 p.m. on Tuesday, July 1, as work is completed on the natural gas distribution system in this area. One westbound lane, the center turn lane, and both eastbound lanes will remain open on this section of Kingston Pike while work is completed. Access to businesses along this route will be provided

White Avenue Lane Closures [June 30-July 11] - KUB and its contractor will implement lane closures along a section of White Avenue between James Agee Street and Fourteenth Street daily from 7 a.m.-5 p.m. beginning on Monday, June 30, and lasting through Friday, July 11, as construction continues on a summer-long PACE 10 wastewater collection system improvement project that is scheduled to last through August 2014 in the eastern section of the Fort Sanders neighborhood (see attached map). No work will be done during the extended 4th of July holiday weekend. The intersection of James Agee Street and White Avenue will also be closed for up to two days during this timeframe. Access will be maintained to the UT Staff Parking Lot entrance/exit onto White Avenue. The Fort Sanders neighborhood work will be isolated to individual streets/areas, and construction will not take place over the entire neighborhood at the same time. Street parking may be temporarily restricted in the immediate construction area to facilitate safe access for equipment and workers. Construction methods will include sections of open-cut trench replacement, as well as trenchless rehabilitation, which includes lining of the existing pipes and pipe-bursting methods. The condition and depth of the existing pipe, as well as accessibility, will determine the construction method used. Selected manholes will also be replaced or rehabilitated as part of this project. As work areas shift, follow up advisories will be issued. More information on this and other KUB construction projects can be found at www.kub.org.

Some listed closures may extend beyond the scheduled times depending on the conditions encountered during excavation and construction. Appropriate traffic control measures, including flagmen, will be in place at this location to assist motorists traveling in the area. Due to the ongoing presence of workers and equipment, motorists are advised to use extreme caution and expect temporary delays in this area.
