April 25, 2014 - Dogwood Arts Festival weekend happenings will prompt some downtown road closures through Sunday, April 27, while Saturday's EarthFest, several 5K runs and the Walk to Cure Diabetes likewise will mean some temporarily closed streets around Knoxville.
NOW THROUGH 7 P.M. SUNDAY, APRIL 27
Dogwood Arts Festival
Union Avenue between Walnut Street and Gay Street will be closed. Clinch Avenue between Gay Street and Market Street will be closed. Market Street between Clinch Avenue and Union Avenue will be closed.
Temporary no-parking zones are in effect on all three streets.
SATURDAY, APRIL 26
EarthFest
Eleventh Street's northbound lane, between Cumberland Avenue and Clinch Avenue, will be used for exhibition unloading, 7-9:30 a.m.
Color Me Rad 5K
Anticipate temporary rolling closures, 8-11:30 a.m. The run will start at Howard Baker Jr. Avenue, turn left on Harriet Tubman Street, then left on McCalla Avenue, turn left on Willow Street, left again on South Central Avenue, turn right on Cumberland Avenue, left on State Street, left on Hill Avenue, then left on Hall of Fame Drive, right on Howard Baker Jr. Avenue, and finally turn right on Honor Our Troops Drive.
Dogwood Classic 5K
There will be temporary rolling closures from 8-10:30 a.m. The run starts off in the eastbound lane of Cherokee Boulevard from the west end parking lot to Talahi Park, then will continue in the westbound lane of Cherokee Boulevard.
Walk to Cure Diabetes
Anticipate temporary rolling closures, 8-11:30 a.m. The route begins at World's Fair Park, heads to White Avenue, then turns left on 16th Street, left on Lake Loudon Boulevard to Neyland Drive before hitting the greenway back to World's Fair Park.
SUNDAY, APRIL 27
Regal Riviera Stadium 8 bus parking
State Street between Clinch and Union avenues will have one lane closed for bus parking, noon to 3 p.m.
Academic Games Leagues of America (AGLOA)
As part of AGLOA's National Tournament, World's Fair Park Drive between Clinch Avenue and Grand Avenue will be closed, 5 to 9 p.m.
