Today through Friday – and then again next Monday, Oct. 19, through Friday, Oct. 23 – anticipate White Avenue being closed between 17th and 18th Street.
The closure, from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. on the eight weekdays, is to allow a contractor to perform concrete pours as part of the construction of The Standard, a 240-plus-unit apartment complex being built on the southwest corner of 17th Street and White Avenue.
White Avenue will remain open during the weekend of Oct. 17-18.
Meanwhile, a second contractor will be closing a short section of North 22nd Street, just north of Cumberland Avenue, overnight tonight (Wednesday, Oct. 14), with the street reopening at 6 a.m. Thursday. The overnight closure will allow crews to install storm drains across North 22nd Street, part of the City of Knoxville’s $17 million reconstruction of Cumberland Avenue.
