The Family Safety and Preparedness Fair will be held 9:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, Sept.26 at the World’s Fair Park.
Disasters affect everyone. With increases in weather related disasters such as tornadoes, floods, power outages, and severe winter weather in recent years, we feel this deserves the attention of all who live in East Tennessee.
The goal of the Family Safety and Preparedness Fair is to assist and empower those living in East Tennessee by providing relevant information, resources, and skills needed to protect themselves, their families and community. While teaming with local agencies and organizations dedicated to emergencies and disasters, the fair will be able to provide access to a wide spectrum of knowledge and draw a broad range of participants.
The World’s Fair Park will be host to booths and various vendors. Examples of vendors and points of interest include: emergency communication plans, family preparedness, food and water storage. In addition to building a family disaster kit, Knoxville Police Department will address how to respond when threatened with an active shooter. Knoxville Utilities Board will address home safety during storms. The University Of Tennessee College Of Veterinary Medicine will educate the public about keeping pets safe during disasters.
