Mayor Rogero released the following statement regarding the death today of former Mayor Kyle Testerman:
"I am very sorry to hear of the passing of former Mayor Kyle Testerman. My thoughts and prayers are with his family. He made major contributions to Knoxville over many decades, as a business leader, a City Council member, and during his two terms as mayor. His vision and leadership were crucial to the creation of the 1982 World's Fair, and he took early steps toward the rejuvenation of Gay Street and downtown. I was happy to see Mayor Testerman and his family in February, when we named the tennis complex at Tyson Park in his honor. The City of Knoxville is a better place for his service and dedication."
Kyle Testerman served as Mayor of the City of Knoxville from 1972-1975 and 1984-1987.
A celebration of life service will be held at Cedar Springs Presbyterian Church on Tuesday, April 21 at 4 p.m.
