Movies on Market Square Starts Sept. 11

Posted: 09/02/2015
Movies on the SquareThe silver screen is set to light up Friday nights on Market Square starting September 11 with Driving Miss Daisy.  Based on a community-wide vote, this year's lineup of Knox County Public Library's Movies on Market Square also features women baseball players in WWII , Teddy Roosevelt, a macaw from Minnesota, and Dracula.

Knox County Public Library is hosting the 12th year of Movies on Market Square, which is presented by Lusid Media, to highlight its vast collection of movies and music with more than 25,000 DVDs representing 13,000 titles. The Sights and Sounds Department at Lawson McGhee Library has one of the broadest physical collections of film and music of any public library in the Southeast.

And the winners are:

• 9/11 Driving Miss Daisy (PG, 1989)
• 9/18 Rio (G, 2011)
• 9/25 Night at the Museum (PG, 2006)
• 10/2 NO MOVIE - Black Lillies Concert
• 10/9 Hotel Transylvania (PG, 2012)
• 10/16 A League of their Own (PG, 1992)

All movies are rated G or PG-13, but parents are encouraged to check out the films to make sure they are right for their family. The series will run for five Friday nights, from September 11 through October 16, with no movie on October 2. Movies begin at dusk, and well behaved dogs are welcome. Moviegoers should bring a lawn chair or blanket to sit on.

Movies on Market Square is made possible through the generous support of Lusid Media, Downtown Knoxville, The Trust Company, Pilot Flying J,  The Tomato Head, the City of Knoxville, KUB, Go!,  WBIR, B97.5 and Springboard AudioVisual.
