With more than 60 acts ranging from jazz to Americana to rockabilly, the three-day Rhythm N Blooms Music Festival will draw tens of thousands of East Tennesseans to six venues along Jackson Avenue this weekend.
But with great outdoor live music comes a few street closures, starting at 4 p.m. Friday, April 10, and ending at 10:30 p.m. Sunday, April 12:
- Jackson Avenue, between Morgan and Humes streets. - Patton Street, between Willow and Jackson avenues. - Jackson Avenue, between the Jackson Avenue parking lot in the Old City and Broadway.
Meanwhile, another Dogwood Arts Festival favorite, the Chalk Walk, will be Saturday, April 11. Watch the chalk artists transform squares of sidewalk into ephemeral works of art. The Chalk Walk also requires two street closures from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday:
- Union Avenue, between Walnut and Gay streets. - Market Street, between Union and Clinch avenues.
Temporary no-parking zones will be in effect starting at 8 a.m. Saturday on Union Avenue and Market Street.
Finally, the Color Me Rad 5K road race begins at 9 a.m. Saturday at Mary Costa Plaza on Howard Baker Jr. Avenue. There will be temporary rolling road closures from Howard Baker Jr. Avenue to Hill Avenue, Hill to Martin Luther King Jr. Ave, Martin Luther King Jr. to Bertrand Street, Bertrand to McCalla Avenue, McCalla to Jackson Avenue, Jackson to Central Street, Central to the ramp from Hall of Fame Drive to Neyland Drive, and back up the ramp to the Civic Coliseum.
