KUB and its contractor will close a section of the Lakeshore Park Greenway from 8:00 a.m. – 5 p.m. on Tuesday, July 19, to facilitate safe conditions as work is performed on the utility infrastructure in the park.
The section of greenway that will be closed is a 200 foot segment located at the south end of the trail, near the KUB Fourth Creek Wastewater Treatment Plant. All other portions of the park and greenway will remain open.
This is part of ongoing work in this area. Signs were placed throughout Lakeshore Park in June to familiarize greenway users with the greenway impacts. Signs are located at both the South Northshore Drive and Lyons View Pike park entrances, and at the east and west ends of the closed section of greenway.
The trail will reopen for use outside of the listed closure dates. KUB asks park patrons to please respect the signage and barricades in place, and to avoid this section of greenway due to ongoing excavation, as well as the presence of construction equipment, vehicles, and workers.
KUB thanks City of Knoxville Parks and Recreation for their assistance with this project, and its customers for their cooperation. Customers with questions or concerns can call 558-2331 after normal business hours to leave a message that will be followed-up with a call from a KUB representative by the end of the next business day.
KUB is a municipal utility serving Knox and parts of seven adjacent counties and provides electric, gas, water, and wastewater services to more than 445,000 customers.
