Rained-Out Concert Rescheduled for Wednesday, June 22

Posted: 06/21/2016
June 22 ConcertAre you ready for some soulful sounds of Gospel and jazz? Jazzspirations will be performing Wednesday, June 22, from 7-9 p.m. at the Bill Lyons Pavilion in Market Square.

The group was originally scheduled to perform June 2. However, the concert was cancelled due to bad weather.

The Variety Thursdays concert series began May 5 and continues through June 30. After Wednesday’s make-up performance by Jazzspirations, the concert series continues Thursday, June 23, with Ensemble Swing Time, a 16-piece Big Band that features original arrangements made famous by Glenn Miller, Harry James, the Dorsey Brothers and other great bands from the Swing Era. The series concludes Thursday, June 30, with the Blue Line Blues band, made up of Knoxville police officers.

All concerts are free – and that includes parking, which is free after 6 p.m. at the City-owned Market Square, State Street and Locust Street garages, plus the privately-owned Walnut Street Garage.

There will be no alcohol or food sold on Market Square during the concerts, apart from what is available on the patios of restaurants.

“Concertgoers are invited to bring chairs or blankets to sit on the Square and enjoy a wonderful show,” said Judith Foltz, Director of Special Events for the City of Knoxville.

Please like and follow the Special Events Facebook page, https://www.facebook.com/CityofKnoxvilleSpecialEvents, to stay updated on the bands and on any cancellations due to the weather.
