City of Knoxville offices will be closed and Knoxville Area Transit’s buses and trolleys will not run on Tuesday, July 4, in observance of Independence Day.
Waste Connections, the City’s residential garbage service contractor, will run on regular schedules. Downtown trash and recycling will be collected following the regular schedule.
The City's recycling centers will be open. However, the Goodwill Industries attendant will not be available for household goods donations.
The City's Solid Waste Management Facility, located at 1033 Elm St., will be closed on Tuesday, July 4. “Free for City Residents Saturday” at the Solid Waste Management Facility will be held on schedule on the first Saturday of the month, Saturday, July 1, 2017.
The City’s recreation centers will be closed on Tuesday, July 4. The City’s outdoor pools (Inskip Pool, located at 4204 Bruin Road, and Ed Cothren Pool, located at 1737 Reynolds St.) will be open from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m., weather permitting.
There will also be several street closures related to events around the Fourth of July:
• Saturday, July 1 – Market Square Farmer’s Market
Market Street between Union Avenue & Clinch Avenue will be closed from 6:45 a.m. - 3:30 p.m. Union Avenue between Walnut Street & Gay Street will be closed from 6:45 a.m. - 3:30 p.m.
• Monday, July 3 – Pilot Fireball Moonlite Classic 5K Run/Walk
All lanes of Neyland Drive between Walnut Avenue and Joe Johnson Drive will be closed from 7:30 p.m. – 10 p.m.
• Tuesday, July 4 – Festival on the 4th
Henley Street and the Henley Bridge (between Hill Avenue and Blount Avenue) will be closed 4 p.m. – 11 p.m. Clinch Avenue (between 11th Street & Henley Street) will be closed from 2 p.m. – 11 p.m. World’s Fair Park Drive (between Clinch & Grand will be closed 3 p.m. – 11 p.m.
