Lane Closures on Summit Hill Dr. for KUB Work Begins July 30

Posted: 07/27/2018
The westbound lanes on Summit Hill Drive at Patton Street will be closed next week so that Knoxville Utilities Board can continue work on the Depot Avenue Area Water Project.

The lanes will be closed beginning at 7 a.m. on Monday, July 30, and lasting through 5 p.m. on Friday, Aug. 3.
Westbound traffic will be detoured to Hill Avenue, Howard Baker Jr. Avenue and Hall of Fame Drive.

Access to businesses will be maintained, with flag crews assisting drivers.

KUB has been systematically working to complete the $6.4 million Depot Avenue Area Water Project since November 2017. It replaces 1,400 feet of aging 8-, 12-, and 16-inch water distribution lines as part of KUB’s ongoing Century II program, as well as construction of 8,500 feet of a new 36-inch transmission water main.

“The Depot Avenue Area Water Project is important for our community as it continues to grow,” said Derwin Hagood, KUB Senior Vice President of Operations. “The end result will be increased reliability from our water treatment plant to the western side of our system, and for the growing commercial and residential needs in the project area by replacing aging infrastructure through our Century II program.”

The extensive project is scheduled to complete in May 2019. For more information, visit http://kubmajorprojects.blogspot.com
