Posted: 03/19/2018
Free Easter Egg Hunt at Beardsley FarmEaster egg hunters ages 2 to 10 are invited to CAC Beardsley Community Farm’s 2018 Community Egg Hunt from 1-3 p.m. on Saturday, March 31. (The rain date is April 7.)

The event is free, but a suggested donation of $5 per child will be accepted. Youngsters should bring their own egg baskets, and the Easter Bunny will be at the egg hunt and available for photos with the children.

It’s the first Community Egg Hunt at Beardsley Farm, 1741 Reynolds St., and the egg hunt organizers are going big. More than 2,000 eggs containing candy and toys will be hidden across three locations, each one specific to an age group.

The gates will open at 1 p.m., with the first egg hunt starting 20 minutes later.

Here’s the schedule for the different zones:

• 2- to 4-year-olds – 1:20 p.m.;
• 5- to 7-year-olds – about 1:30 p.m.; and
• 8- to 10-year-olds – about 1:40 p.m.

Barbecue sandwiches from BJ&S will be available for sale for $2 each. Complimentary water and Powerade for attendees will be provided.

CAC Beardsley Community Farm is an urban community farm that promotes food security and sustainable agriculture.

Since 1998, Beardsley Farm has worked to increase access to fresh produce in Knoxville’s food deserts through produce donations, educational programs and community gardening.

Beardsley Farm grows more than 10,000 pounds of produce – more than 100 varieties of fruits, vegetables and herbs – on four acres of productive land with the help of more than 2,000 volunteers each year.
