Chief Rausch with KidsThis month, Fight Crime: Invest in Kids, an anti-crime organization of over 5,000 police chiefs, sheriffs, prosecutors and violence survivors, announced the organization’s new National Leadership Council comprised of nearly 30 elite law enforcement leaders and violence survivors from around the country that will help advise Fight Crime: Invest in Kids to continue leading efforts to advance evidence-based solutions that steer kids away from crime and towards productive lives. Knoxville Police Chief David Rausch is a founding member of the council.

“I am excited to have Chief Rausch join the Council. Since joining Fight Crime: Invest in Kids 7 years ago, Chief Rausch has used his expertise and firsthand experiences in law enforcement to educate policymakers on how we can make our communities safer by ensuring kids get a good start in life and never enter down a path towards crime,” said Josh Spaulding, the organization’s Acting National Director. “As a National Leadership Council member, Chief Rausch will be a leader among the organization’s more than 5,000 members, and ensure the organization is able to continue educating policymakers and the public on evidence-based solutions that steer kids towards crime-free lives so we can prioritize our investments in the programs that work.”

Chief Rausch said, “I am humbled to have been selected and honored to serve on this elite team to assure that the youth in our community, our State, and our Country have every opportunity for success. I appreciate the great work that Fight Crime: Invest in Kids does and I am excited about helping guide the efforts going forward as a member of the National Leadership Council.”

Chief Rausch has been a member of Fight Crime: Invest in Kids since 2011.

Founded in 1996, Fight Crime: Invest in Kids takes a hard-nosed look at the strategies proven to reduce crime. Armed with research, members make the case for solutions that cut crime and put kids on the path to productive lives. The organization promotes smart, bipartisan state and federal solutions to reduce crime, such as evidence-based, voluntary parent coaching programs for new parents that prevent child abuse and neglect; high-quality early childhood education that increases educational success and graduation rates; stronger K-12 education goals and after-school programs that give kids a clear path toward productive futures and away from crime; and proven coaching programs that strengthen families and get troubled kids back on track.
